Free protein calculator

Enter your body weight to see a daily protein range, with the sums shown. It uses a published advisory on nutrition during GLP-1 therapy. General information only.

This isn't medical advice. Check your target with your doctor, especially if you have kidney disease.

Where the numbers come from

The joint advisory Nutritional priorities to support GLP-1 therapy for obesity (American College of Lifestyle Medicine, American Society for Nutrition, Obesity Medicine Association and The Obesity Society) says the recommended daily allowance for protein is 0.8 g per kg a day, and that higher targets such as 1.2 to 1.6 g per kg a day have been proposed during active weight reduction. It also says an absolute target of 80 to 120 g a day may help people stick to it, and that long-term intake at or above 2 g per kg a day should be avoided.

It adds that using actual body weight can overestimate needs for people with obesity, and that no single method is settled. So treat the range as a starting point to talk over with your doctor or dietitian. See sources for the full quotes and link.
